FIAD and UNIC celebrate cinematic art with exclusive screening of “Niki” in Brussels
On 1st October, FIAD and UNIC – The International Union of Cinemas – teamed up to host a special screening in Brussels, bringing together film enthusiasts, EU officials, and cinema industry representatives for an exclusive screening of Niki, a compelling biographical film about the renowned French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle. The event took place at the UGC De Brouckère cinema, in the heart of Brussels, offering guests a special experience that blended art, film, and culture.
The evening began with a lively cocktail reception, offering attendees a chance to network and discuss their shared passion for European cinema. The highlight of the night was the screening of Niki, featuring a standout performance by Charlotte Le Bon. The film is set to release in Belgium on 9 October.
FIAD and UNIC were honoured to have MEP Emma Rafowicz, Vice Chair of the European Parliament’s CULT Committee, deliver opening remarks. In her speech, MEP Rafowicz underscored the importance of the cinematic experience as a cultural touchstone for society. She spoke of how films like Niki not only entertain but also inspire deeper reflections on art, identity, and our shared human experience.
The cooperation between FIAD and UNIC in bringing this screening to fruition highlights the strong partnership that exists between film distributors and cinema operators across Europe. This collaboration mirrors the broader business reality of the film industry, where distributors and cinemas work hand in hand to bring a diverse array of stories to the big screen, ensuring audiences have access to a wide variety of films that challenge, inspire, and entertain.
As the film prepares for its official release, FIAD and UNIC are proud to have shared this unique cinematic experience with Brussels audiences, continuing their commitment to celebrating the magic of cinema and the big screen as the most authentic and impactful way to experience film.
