FIAD welcomes the adoption of the report on Copyright by the European Parliament

The International Federation of Film distributors Associations would like to welcome the adoption by the European Parliament plenary of the report on the Copyright in the Digital Single Market. Today’s result and the discussion on the day before, shows that MEPs have reflected on what is actually is at stake for both the industry and the the European citizens and they have not give in to the wide disinformation campaign launched by tech giants.

As trilogue negotiations begin, FIAD would like to remind the negotiators that the aim should be to uphold a digital environment that supports culture, innovation and respects the need of some sectors for exclusive rights.
